
Getting to Ikuno Stay
Ikuno Stay is located in Ikuno Town (Asago City), Hyogo Prefecture. While the town is rural and quiet, it is accessible by train or car from major Kansai cities. The journey gradually shifts from city to countryside, setting the tone for a slower, more local stay.
From Osaka
There are two main train routes from Osaka to Ikuno. Both arrive at Ikuno Station, but the experience is different.
Option 1: Via Wadayama
By train (about 2.5 hours):

From Osaka Station, take the JR Limited Express Kounotori bound for Kinosaki Onsen or Toyooka

Depending on the service and time of day, you may travel directly to Ikuno Station, or be asked to transfer at Wadayama Station to a local train

Get off at Ikuno Station, then walk 10–15 minutes or take a short taxi to Ikuno Stay
This route is the simplest option, especially if you are travelling with luggage.
Option 2: Via Himeji
By train (about 2.5–3 hours):

From Osaka Station, take a JR Special Rapid or Rapid Service to Himeji Station

Transfer to the JR Bantan Line bound for Wadayama

Depending on the schedule, a transfer may be required at Teramae Station before continuing to Ikuno

Get off at Ikuno Station, then walk or take a taxi to Ikuno Stay
This route uses local trains and is slower, but scenic.
From Himeji
By train (about 1.5 hours):

From Himeji Station, take the JR Bantan Line toward Wadayama

Some services require a transfer at Teramae Station

Get off at Ikuno Station, then walk or take a taxi to Ikuno Stay
By car (about 1.5 hours):

Drive north via Route 312 or surrounding mountain roads

From Kyoto
By train (about 3 hours):

From Kyoto Station, take the JR Limited Express Kinosaki or Kounotori

Get off at Ikuno Station, then walk or take a taxi to Ikuno Stay
By car (about 2.5–3 hours):

Use expressways toward Hyogo Prefecture, then continue north to Asago City
From Kinosaki Onsen
By train (about 1 hour):

From Kinosaki Onsen Station, take the JR Limited Express Kounotori toward Osaka

Notes on Local Transport
Ikuno is a small rural town, and taxi availability is limited, especially in the evenings and at night.
If you plan to arrive late, please let us know in advance so we can advise you on the best options.
Asago City operates a demand bus service for certain areas. This service requires advance booking and is subject to availability.
If you require a taxi, please contact us ahead of time and we will do our best to assist. However, we may not be able to help with late or last-minute requests. In some cases, local residents may kindly offer assistance on a volunteer basis; if this happens, we recommend offering a small tip as a gesture of appreciation.
