甲社宅

 Koushataku

The oldest remaining official residence and company housing in Japan.

Located in the historic silver mining town of Ikuno, which has been designated as a National Important Cultural Landscape, these “Koushataku” houses were originally built by the Mitsubishi Corporation around 1876. Today, they are preserved as designated cultural properties of Asago City.

Staying here offers a rare opportunity to experience life in a historic setting, while reflecting on the people and stories that once shaped this place.
